Welcoming both the sons of Mr. Lal Bahadur Shastri and other dignitaries, Sir C P quoted and recalled a few memorable episodes of his life while he served under Mr. Lal Bahadur Shastri. Citing examples of his honesty, integrity and indomitable courage, Sir CP confided candidly that he was greatly inspired by Mr. Shastri’s vision of equality and his profound sense of respect for all the sect and communities in this secular country. In another stance Sir CP remarked that his high profile diplomatic skills and charismatic personality were just unparallel that helped him pave his way to build up a close rapport and friendship with various leaders from Pakistan even when the relationship had gone bitter after the war with India.
The speech of Sir CP was so impressive that it was interrupted with loud applause on a number of occasions by the dignitaries and the audience. At the end of his speech Sir CP was extended a standing ovation. Before Sir CP concluded he was very humble as he impressed upon extending his all gratitude, credit and inspiration with all humility to Shri Mataji behind the Herculean task of authoring the unique book on Mr. Shastri. The function continued further with another short speech made by the Governor of Haryana, Dr. A.R Kidwai who reiterated with more episodes of Mr. Lal Bahadur Shastri on his exemplary life and high standard of moral values that Mr. Shastri carried along as a Prime minister.
Later, Vice President of India, Mr. M. Hamid Ansari thanked Sir CP and was in all praise for Mr. Shastri  , whose life style as reflected upon by the speaker reminiscing and sharing personal impressions  reflected his real image much wider than the canvas . He also thanked the author and the translator for the Urdu edition of the book on Mr. Shastri which would enable wider spectrum of readers across the globe to know this great personality of twentieth century. Special reference was drawn to illustrate the incidence of ‘owning moral values’ quoting the period when Mr. Lal Bahadur Shastri as Railway Minister resigned on his volition hearing the news of a railway accident. Mr. Ansari called this incident, a memorable example and high level of ethics ever expressed by a public figure, who not only owned moral responsibility for anything happening wrong in his Ministry, but also reflected upon the strength in his nationality and character. He expressed that he wished that such standards could be followed by all politicians and Heads of the country today.
Later the book “A Life of Truth in Politics” written by Sir C.P Srivastava and translated by Prof. Abdul Haq in Urdu was released by Mr. M. Hamid Ansari, Honorable Vice President of India. A standing ovation to Sir CP with loud applause broke the silence across the large convention hall of the Hotel Ashoka on this occasion.
Vote of thanks was extended by Mr. Galgotia, the Chairman of Galgotia Publications, and the publisher of this book. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Shri Mataji and the Trust, translator and all others involved in bringing out this book.
The program concluded with the announcement of inviting all dignitaries and guests for that evening over a cup of tea and refreshments in the hotel lounge.
It was a memorable event and a sight too to witness our most Holy Mother to be in very cheerful mood. Thank You Shri Mataji for this wonderful and blissful evening as Your holy presence and blessing the event has given us extreme joy.
