Mahashivratri Puja

Shri Mataji arrived at Nirmal Nagari late in the evening of 09 Mar 2008 for the Mahashivratri Puja. Trumpets and drums were being played near the gate from where Shri Mataji entered the venue. Sahaja Yoginis and Yogis, dressed in traditional south Indian sarees & kurta-pyjamas, welcomed Her with Diyas (earthen lamps) in their hands. After spending some time in Her room that is adjoining the stage, Shri Mataji appeared before the Sahaja collective assembled at the venue from around the world.

Welcome Aarti was performed to Shri Mataji and then permission was sought for the Puja. The little Ganeshas trooped in to offer choicest flowers at Her Holy Lotus Feet. The Devi was decorated with Her ornaments while seven ladies stood around Her. Her Lotus Feet were decorated with Swastikas. Rings were put on the fingers of the feet. Payals were put around Her ankles. Scent was applied to Her wrists. Necklaces were put around Her neck and a crown was put on Her head. Shri Mataji viewed Her face in a mirror and acknowledged satisfaction for Her decoration. Puja offerrings were given to the Devi. Various flowers and fruits including the 'Bael' fruit were offerred. A Trishul – the Trident weapon of Shri Shiva stood next to Her throne while a Nandi bullock – Shri Shiva’s vehicle was sitting a little in front of Her throne. The massive stage bore as a backdrop, the picture of Shri Mataji with three heads. A white cloth was draped around Shri Mataji and the throne and She glistened like Shri Shiva in the Himalayas. Shiva Puja songs like “Aaya Maata ka Pujan din aaya—Shivratri ka anand chhaya” were sung while the Puja was being performed and Aarti was performed to the Devi after the songs.

Sir CP addressed the collective with Shri Mataji’s message of spreading Sahaja Yoga. After the address he requested for the Quwwalli “Mata ka karam hai”. While the Quwwalli was being performed Shri Mataji called a yuva Sahaja Yogi and seemed to ask him, above the din of the music, to convey to the gathering to dance. Shri Mataji then spoke to Sir C.P. too and he stood up clapping his hands. The assembled Sahaja Yogis and Yoginis got up to dance and sway to the music.

Shri Mataji said to Sir C.P. that “Puja bahut sundar hui” meaning something like this that the puja happened very beautifully and left for Pratishthan after around a three hours stay at the Puja venue.
